With more than 15 years experience in the IT marketplace, Neal Tilley is currently a Business Development Director for Europe within Alcatel-Lucent’s enterprise division. His main role is specifically focused on strategic business development for large enterprises and their dynamic communication requirements.
Neal joined Alcatel in 2000 as voice overlay sales engineer covering the South West quarter of North America, based in Los Angeles. Other responsibilities at Alcatel included: principle voice technologist for North America, and marketing director for Voice, North America. Opportunities inside of Alcatel led to Neal moving to focus on IP Telephony Solution Marketing in the Northern European region.
After three successful years, Neal moved back to the US and Florida, where he worked for Alcatel Lucent as Business Development for Vertical Markets, focused on solutions for customers in Healthcare, Government, Finance Services and Utilities. This led to his present position.
Neal’s career began in computer sales, and then with Bay Networks he turned his sales experience into a technical understanding that led to several pre-sales roles. After successfully selling and designing corporate LAN and WAN networks, Neal entered into the ATM and frame relay converged network market with Motorola. Through several periods of acquisitions and sell-offs Neal was designing international voice and data networks as the IT market took to the world of convergence.
Early in his career Neal was also product director for a large UK systems integrator, where he created an IP communications and IP security portfolio containing best of breed products and forged relationships with vendors such as Alcatel, Lucent, Motorola, and Nortel, where he successfully transitioned to selling and designing international networks. Along the way he also built up knowledge of IT based security solutions and successful used this to design highly secure converged solutions for Financial, Government and Military customers.
Neal graduated from the University of Surrey in 1991 with a joint Honours degree in marketing and business administration, later gaining a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma in Marketing (DIPM).
