Carlos Solari

Carlos Solari is vice president of security solutions for Alcatel-Lucent’s Bell Labs.  In this role, Solari heads up the Alcatel-Lucent security strategy and positioning team, responsible for furthering the organisations’ position as a leading provider of secure, reliable networks, services and applications.

Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Solari served as president of Solari Innovations Inc., providing consulting services in the area of security strategies, IT architecture development and IT best practice.  He has extensive experience in the field of information systems security as applied in the areas of homeland security, law enforcement, public safety and defence, having spent more than 25 years in various government and private industry positions, including 13 years as a US Army officer and more than six years as a senior executive with the FBI.

From 2002 to 2005 Solari served as chief information officer for the executive office of the President – the White House.  During this time he was responsible for the implementation of a complete computing modernisation for the White House and its supporting offices, with IT security a central component of this work.

Solari is a graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia (BS Biology), and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California (MS Systems Technologies).
